My Photography Years

I have been an amateur photographer for nearly 60 years, starting in 1947 when I was a Junior in high school. My first camera was a Kodak Premoette IA modified glass plate folding camera that took pictures on 2x3 film pack sheets. It had a Rapid Rectilinear f8 lens and was an antique when I got it. I wish I had kept it for its antique value alone, because It did not really take very good pictures. It was something I could afford and have fun with.

One of my favorite photos was taken in a cemetery in Delta, Colorado on Armistice Day, 1964. It appeared on the front page of the Delta County Independent and was taken with a medium-format camera (Rollei Magic) in black & white on EK 120 Plus-X pan. Note that there are 48 stars in these flags. I not only took the photo, but developed and printed it. The caption was "Long May They Wave," which says a lot about those who continue to give their lives to ensure our liberty.
